Analytical Laboratory Technician

Job Purpose

At Coastal Gulf & International, Inc., we are seeking a dedicated Analytical Laboratory Technician to contribute to our team of experts. This role involves performing routine laboratory tests under the guidance of experienced supervisors to determine the chemical or physical characteristics of various samples. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy and high quality in their work while adhering to strict timelines.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute basic analytical tests according to established standards and procedures as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Assist with and independently perform the setup, adjustment, and operation of laboratory equipment.
  • Calibrate laboratory instruments as needed to guarantee accurate analysis in accordance with our Quality Management systems.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile laboratory environment by thoroughly cleaning and sterilizing all equipment.
  • Prepare chemical solutions accurately using standard formulas.
  • Record test results meticulously on standardized forms and generate comprehensive test reports detailing the procedures employed.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding and completing laboratory raw data sheets, ensuring accurate entries into our LIMS database.
  • Possess a strong comprehension of all analytical standards and safety protocols, including ASTM, UOP, IP, and other relevant industry guidelines.
  • Adhere to the procedural, safety, and quality requirements outlined in our Laboratory Manual, Safety Manual, and company policies.
  • Embrace any additional duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field is preferred; however, equivalent work experience coupled with a minimum of two years of direct transferable laboratory experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASTM standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with all chemical, petrochemical, and petroleum products.
  • Exceptional color vision accuracy for accurate identification.
  • Prior experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access is preferred.
  • A proven track record of responsibility and reliability within a professional setting.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills for clear and concise information exchange.
  • Proficient in the operation and maintenance of various laboratory equipment.
