Emergency Veterinary Technician

ACCESS Specialty Animal Hospital Pasadena is seeking a skilled veterinary technician to become a vital part of our Emergency Room Team.

What We Provide:
We offer competitive compensation for credentialed technicians ranging from $32 to $39 per hour, based on experience and skills assessment.
For non-credentialed assistants, the pay range is $27 to $34 per hour, also dependent on experience and skills assessment.
Additionally, we provide shift differentials of $2 to $3 per hour for swing and overnight shifts, as well as a $2 per hour differential for weekend shifts.

Work Schedule:
Your schedule will typically be Thursday through Saturday, with the option of a fourth day on Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.
Key Responsibilities:
The dynamic nature of the ER means that no two days are alike. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Providing nursing care for patients while consistently evaluating their condition.
- Familiarity with Continuous Rate Infusions (CRIs), including calculating rates, setup, and understanding contraindications.
- Administering oxygen support and caring for patients utilizing oxygen chambers.
- Knowledge of telemetry, including common arrhythmias and their treatments.
- Placing and maintaining urinary catheters for canines and assisting with feline post-operative care.
- Setting up, placing, and maintaining Central Venous Catheters (CVC) and Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC).
- Managing feeding tubes, including placement and maintenance of nasogastric (NG) tubes and assisting with e-tube placements.
- Conducting thorough patient rounds with accurate documentation.
- Ensuring safe patient restraint for various procedures, including physical exams and blood collection.
- Performing triage assessments and obtaining basic patient histories from owners.
- Monitoring vital signs and recognizing when to alert the veterinarian.
- Conducting in-house laboratory tests such as FeLV, FIV, 4Dx, Cortisol, Parvo, CBC, and Chemistries.
