The Crude Assay Manager oversees the daily functions of the laboratory. This role involves keeping management updated on any challenges or laboratory needs. The Manager is tasked with organizing instrumental calibrations, sample processing, analytical tasks, maintaining calibration records, and ensuring quality control. Additionally, the Manager reviews final reports and manages the physical upkeep of the Crude Assay Lab. Responsibilities may evolve based on management directives.
Key Responsibilities
o Ensure timely and precise laboratory Certificates of Analysis are generated.
o Manage incoming samples and track shipments while providing updates to clients.
o Coordinate and schedule laboratory tasks for personnel.
o Conduct GC and analytical assessments as necessary.
o Offer expertise in D2892/D5236 Distillations.
o Supervise D2892/D5266 equipment, ensuring operational efficiency.
o Collect, compile, and validate data from laboratory tests.
o Proficient in LIMS Software.
o Clarify specifications, methodologies, and results for clients when required.
o Maintain email communication with weekly updates on work progress and changes.
o Monitor and chart routine testing for historical records.
o Review and confirm that all Distillation, Analytical, and GC Data are consistent for the Assay.
o Input Crude Assay data into Haverly, Spiral, or AmSpec reports.
o Assist in addressing and resolving customer inquiries regarding services.
o Provide training to laboratory staff.
o Oversee laboratory equipment and supply inventory.
o Coordinate the repair or replacement of malfunctioning equipment and supplies.
o Understand instrument calibrations, verifications, and maintain records as scheduled.
o Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
o Candidates must meet one of the following educational and/or experience criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field with 2 years of experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
- Associate's Degree in a technical field with 3 years of experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
- 5 years of experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
o Demonstrated strong managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
o Experience in a Petroleum Laboratory should encompass analytical testing, instrument maintenance, calibrations, quality control systems, and training protocols.
o Task-oriented with a disciplined approach to meeting deadlines.
o Comprehensive understanding of industry-related safety and training practices.
o Ability to quickly learn and implement new procedures.
