The Crude Assay Manager oversees the daily functions of the laboratory. This role involves keeping the management team informed about any operational challenges or laboratory needs. The Manager is tasked with organizing instrumental calibrations, managing sample flow, analytical tasks, maintaining calibration records, and ensuring quality control. Additionally, the Manager reviews final reports and oversees the physical upkeep of the Crude Assay Lab. Responsibilities may evolve based on management directives.
Key Responsibilities
o Ensure that laboratory Certificates of Analysis are delivered promptly and accurately.
o Manage the intake of samples and monitor shipments while providing updates to clients.
o Schedule and coordinate laboratory tasks among personnel.
o Conduct GC and analytical evaluations as necessary.
o Offer expertise in D2892/D5236 Distillation processes.
o Supervise the operation of D2892/D5266 equipment to ensure functionality.
o Collect, compile, and validate data from laboratory tests.
o Proficient in utilizing LIMS Software.
o Clarify specifications, methodologies, and results for clients when required.
o Maintain email communication with weekly updates on work progress and changes.
o Monitor and document routine testing for historical records.
o Review and confirm that all Distillation, Analytical, and GC Data are consistent for the Assay.
o Input Crude Assay data into Haverly, Spiral, or AmSpec reports.
o Assist in investigating and resolving client concerns regarding services.
o Provide training and support to laboratory staff.
o Oversee the management of laboratory equipment and supply inventory.
o Coordinate the repair or replacement of malfunctioning equipment and supplies.
o Understand and maintain records of instrument calibrations and verifications as per schedule.
o Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
o Candidates must meet one of the following educational and/or experience criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical field with 2 years of experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
- Associate's Degree in a technical field with 3 years of experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
- 5 years of experience in a Petroleum Laboratory
o Proven managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential.
o Experience in a Petroleum Laboratory should encompass analytical testing, instrument upkeep, calibration, quality control systems, and training protocols.
o Strong organizational skills and discipline to meet deadlines are required.
o A comprehensive understanding of industry safety standards and training is necessary.
o The individual must quickly grasp and implement new procedures.
