Position OverviewRole Summary

We are looking for a Production Specialist to join our team at Coherent Corp. This position involves executing tasks within our Magnet, Engraving, and Precision Wash departments.

Key Responsibilities

Precision Wash Duties
  • Execute designated wash cycles according to component specifications and established formulas.
  • Process components post-wash to ensure they are adequately dried and prepared for inventory packaging.
  • Package components for inventory management.
  • Maintain an inventory tracking system for assigned tasks.
  • Conduct Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on wash tanks and related equipment as per the TPM schedule.
  • Handle chemicals and hot water safely.
  • Assist with Gross Wash and Deburring tasks as required.

Magnet and Engraving Responsibilities
  • Assemble rare earth magnet devices utilizing both manual and automated fixtures.
  • Operate pre-programmed jobs on laser marking equipment to mark components according to print specifications.
  • Safely charge magnets to the correct polarity using a magnetizer.
  • Ensure safe operations by following established safety protocols and regulations.
  • Uphold quality standards by verifying settings through measurements, first-run parts, and sample workpieces.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Document and communicate job continuity among team members, noting actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs.
  • Identify and suggest areas for process improvement.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience operating Magnet, Engraving, and/or Precision Wash equipment.
  • Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing principles is advantageous.
  • Experience with laser engraving machinery is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and written specifications is a plus.
  • Experience in a collaborative team setting is beneficial.

Essential Skills
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with team members.
  • Proficiency in working with blueprints, sketches, and written specifications.
  • Effective communication skills with all team members.
  • Basic reading, writing, mathematical, and intermediate computer skills.
  • Familiarity with software programs necessary for tracking and logging components throughout the production process, such as databases, Excel spreadsheets, and ERP systems.

Work Environment
  • Ability to work in proximity to strong magnets.
  • Experience working with hot water for component washing.
  • Work is conducted in a high-noise environment.

Physical Demands
  • Capability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to exert force using arms on the magnet press.
