The Nutritional Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing and serving meals while adhering to proper food handling and safety protocols. This role ensures that meals are not only nutritious but also visually appealing and served at the correct temperature. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is essential, in line with established standards.Qualifications:Education:
  • Minimum of tenth grade or above.
  • GED or High School Diploma preferred.
Licenses/Certification:
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred, or other relevant food safety certification as required.
Experience:
  • Six months of experience in large quantity food preparation; experience with therapeutic diets is preferred.
Job Functions:
  • Review menus prior to food preparation.
  • Prepare food for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menus.
  • Prepare alternative items to accommodate individual resident needs and preferences.
  • Utilize proper food handling and safety techniques in food preparation.
  • Make authorized changes to planned menus and document accordingly.
  • Ensure food is appealing and served at the appropriate temperature.
  • Maintain organized menus in accordance with established policies.
  • Use standardized recipes for menu items.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Understanding of safe food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Skilled in quantity food production and basic math.
  • Effective communication skills with residents and team members.
  • Detail-oriented and accurate in work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
