Accountant - Insurance Operations Specialist

**Accounting Excellence**

The Insurance Operations Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. This position is responsible for providing day-to-day support and administration of our accounting functions, as well as performing routine to moderate accounting tasks such as reconciliations, journal entries, data analysis, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts daily review of suspense activity and policy accounting, identifying discrepancies with detailed research and taking necessary steps to resolve them in a timely manner, with a focus on the Pension Group Annuity business.
  • Prepares monthly ledger account reconciliations.
  • Reconciliation review and certification approver.
  • Prepares and processes manual accounting journal entries.
  • Serves as a content or technical resource within the department and possesses key business understanding across other business units.
  • Backs up other positions and performs other duties as assigned within the accounting unit.
  • Assists in project initiatives or is assigned to specific projects or tasks.
  • Possesses the ability to work independently.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and applicable experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in the financial services field.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of applicable professional accounting experience.
  • Prefer prior policy accounting and monthly reconciliation experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence others and communicate across all areas of the company.
  • Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities, and work effectively on multiple initiatives concurrently.
  • Experience providing information for all levels of management.
