Financial Assistance Advisor Position at Polk State College

The Financial Assistance Advisor is essential in facilitating student success by overseeing federal, state, institutional, and external financial resources aimed at supporting student educational endeavors. This role serves as the primary liaison for financial assistance inquiries, guiding students and their families through the financial aid landscape, and offering comprehensive insights into available programs, application procedures, and eligibility requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a student-centered approach in all communications with students and colleagues.
  • Evaluate financial aid applications, compile necessary information, and notify students regarding their financial aid awards.
  • Engage in recruitment activities, addressing questions and assisting with the enrollment process.
  • Manage correspondence by sending award notifications and preparing necessary loan documentation for students.
  • Oversee college work-study documentation and verify student employment records.
  • Stay informed about student loan options, debt management strategies, and repayment plans.
  • Contribute to departmental financial operations and assist with various administrative functions.
  • Conduct audits of student files to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations.
  • Support initiatives aimed at enhancing enrollment and retention by undertaking additional assigned responsibilities.

Working Conditions and Additional Information:

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends during peak periods.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, multi-office work environment.
  • This is an on-site position.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • This role is classified at level C15 with a competitive salary range.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Life, and Retirement options.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant administrative or clerical experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in financial aid or student services within higher education is preferred.
