Salary Range: $51,851 - $57,036 / Annually

Job Summary:

This role is funded through a grant with a performance period until 2027. The position is focused on delivering academic assistance and services to eligible participants, fostering positive relationships, and monitoring their academic achievements. Responsibilities include planning, executing, and overseeing project activities, events, field trips, and college visits throughout the academic year and summer sessions.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Completion of one to two years of college coursework (30 credit hours equate to one year) or relevant certification.
  • A minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in direct service roles within educational or social service settings, particularly with first-generation and/or veteran populations.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the selection, planning, organization, and execution of the academic curriculum.
  • Assist the Program Director with the recruitment, selection, training, and evaluation of instructors and tutors.
  • Coordinate academic assessments for participants, develop and monitor Individual Academic Plans, and track overall performance.
  • Provide guidance in academic, financial aid, career, and personal matters to participants.
  • Schedule and lead group workshops, both in-person and online.
  • Plan and manage educational and cultural activities, including field trips and college visits, while taking charge of cultural and social events.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with veterans, college staff, and community organizations.
  • Support the implementation of project activities.
  • Evaluate project needs and provide necessary support and leadership to ensure quality services.
  • Manage the internal database of participant services, prepare monthly reports, and assist with the annual performance report as per U.S. Department of Education guidelines.
  • Participate in relevant meetings and professional development opportunities as funding allows.
  • In the absence of the Program Director, assist in supervising program instructors and tutors.
  • Perform additional related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of secondary student development theories and personality theories.
  • Strong listening and guidance skills, with the ability to connect with adult learners.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to organize and implement activities tailored for veteran students.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding participants' academic and personal information.
  • Consistent demonstration of a positive attitude and flexibility in program planning.
  • Experience working effectively with veterans from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to organize and manage events and field trips for large groups.
  • Experience or training in designing academic curricula or professional development programs.
  • Knowledge of college admissions and financial aid processes.
Physical Requirements:

Must possess sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with colleagues and the public through various means. The role requires the physical capability to operate office equipment, including computers and copiers, with minimal physical exertion required.

  • Effective communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Compliance with the 1986 Immigration Act regarding documentation of identity and work authorization.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to employment offer.
  • A valid Driver's License is necessary for regular travel for outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Willingness to operate college vehicles or rentals as needed and possess reliable transportation for outreach events.
  • Availability to work standard hours with some evening and weekend commitments during the academic year and extended hours during summer sessions.
