Key Responsibilities:


Develops educational resources for students with visual impairments to ensure they receive an equitable education alongside their sighted peers.


  • Converts printed materials into Braille for students with visual impairments.
  • Transcribes mathematical and scientific content into Nemeth and science Braille formats.
  • Produces tactile and auditory adaptations of various educational materials that are typically presented visually.
  • Converts all national, state, and district assessments into appropriate Braille formats as required.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues, site personnel, and diverse student groups.
  • Engages with students with visual impairments both within and outside their designated classrooms.
  • Acquires knowledge of student technology and assists in monitoring student progress.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in utilizing various Braille translation software for converting print materials into Braille, including but not limited to Duxbury, Braille 2000, Scientific Notebook, and Math Type.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Capable of creating tactile learning resources and operating necessary equipment.
  • Familiarity with the Nemeth Braille Code.
  • Knowledge of and experience with different Braille embossing devices.
  • Understanding of Braille codes for science, music, and foreign languages.
  • Knowledge of EBAE and UEB Braille codes with correct formatting for literary Braille.

Educational Background:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
