Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Guidance: Provide leadership to improve the educational experience of migrant students, ensuring they receive the support and resources they need to succeed.
  • Mentorship and Support: Mentor students to achieve educational goals, supporting them in acquiring social-emotional skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
  • Family and Community Engagement: Assist students and their families in building a system of supports that fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting self-advocacy and connecting them with essential services, school staff, and community resources.
  • Cultural Enrichment: Provide opportunities for students to engage in diverse, enriching, and culturally relevant experiences that promote academic growth and personal development.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with district support staff to remove barriers, support children's education, and serve as a liaison between families and schools.
  • Student Monitoring and Support: Meet bi-weekly with migrant students to monitor grades, attendance, and other educational concerns, providing direction and support as needed.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, forms, and files required for and reported to the district, state, and other agencies.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
  • Language Skills: Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience: Two years of experience working with elementary, middle, and/or high school youth in a school setting, with one year of experience as a mentor, coach, and advocate.
  • Desirable Qualifications: One year of experience working with refugee and migrant populations, valid Colorado driver's license, and a clean driving record.
  • Skills and Abilities: Effective time management, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
