Role Overview: Reporting to the campus Special Education instructor, our team members are essential to our mission, bringing it to life for our students. We seek individuals who are compassionate towards the holistic development of each child, possess strong classroom management skills, and excel in collaboration with colleagues and families. Ideal candidates will demonstrate effective communication abilities, a commitment to making a significant impact on each child's life, and a growth-oriented mindset.

Work Schedule: The Individualized Education Support Specialists are compensated year-round on a salary basis. The role encompasses 177 student contact days, along with professional development and parent conference days, totaling 189 workdays annually. Specialists are expected to be present on campus by 7:30 AM and remain until 4:00 PM on regular school days, with early release days concluding at 4:00 PM on Wednesdays for professional development or planning meetings. A week of professional development is scheduled each summer prior to the start of the academic year.

Our Performance Group teachers provide smaller group instruction in core subjects, and we offer a robust intervention program to support students as needed. We fully integrate students with special needs into general education classrooms and implement a character education program known as Reach, which promotes values such as responsibility, empowerment, aspiration, citizenship, and honesty.

Key Responsibilities: All Individualized Education Support Specialists are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • Utilizing Restorative Justice Practices
  • Managing Student Behavior Across Various School Settings
  • Collaborating Effectively with Students and Colleagues
  • Engaging in Reflective Practice for Continuous Improvement

Special Education Responsibilities: Specialists are required to maintain confidentiality regarding student goals, progress, and IEPs. They will work one-on-one and in small groups with students, supporting their specific behavioral and academic objectives in both general and specialized education settings. A proactive and positive approach to supporting students and their families within the Special Education program is essential.

  • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk quickly, bend, kneel, crouch, sit, stand, and grasp with one or both hands.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 lbs without difficulty.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with children and adults.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods during group training sessions.

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting Salary Range: $33,300 - $38,958
