Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Warehouse Operations Specialist is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, tools, equipment, and products within the warehouse. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of all warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in unloading delivery vehicles, verifying incoming merchandise, and reconciling purchase orders with sales orders.
  • Interpret customer orders, work orders, shipping requests, or requisitions to identify items to be moved, collected, or dispatched.
  • Transport materials and products from receiving or storage areas to shipping or other designated locations.
  • Organize and categorize materials or products on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined order based on size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Maintain a safe and accessible warehouse environment for staff and customer interactions.
  • Compile customer orders from inventory and arrange them on pallets or shelves, or transfer them to a holding area or shipping department.
  • Open bales, crates, and other containers as necessary.
  • Document quantities of materials or products received or distributed.
  • Assist in conducting physical inventory counts.
  • Utilize computer systems to monitor various aspects of inventory management.

Work Environment:

This role operates primarily in a warehouse setting, with some exposure to outdoor conditions during work hours. The position requires the use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and standard warehouse tools such as hand trucks and tape dispensers.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully execute the essential functions of this role.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee frequently interacts with co-workers and clients who may have inquiries regarding various projects and needs. Clear communication is essential in these situations. The employee must be able to remain stationary for a significant portion of the time and may occasionally need to move within the office to access files and equipment. The role requires frequent operation of computers and office machinery, as well as the ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a related field.

Qualifications:

  • High school education and at least one year of experience in shipping and receiving operations.
  • Ability to read and write in English, follow verbal instructions, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Capability to operate a forklift safely.
