Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Assistant to join our team at the Cherokee Nation. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to patients as directed by healthcare providers and other clinical staff.
  • Coordinate patient care and communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Perform various analytical tasks and charting duties related to patient information.
  • Facilitate quality patient care by optimizing patient flow, processing referrals, and assisting with prior authorizations.
  • Communicate with patients about their schedules, referrals, and queries in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Utilize customer service skills and written and telephone etiquette to provide excellent patient care.
  • Support quality control by ensuring accuracy of all transcriptions of notes and documents related to treatments, referrals, and appointments.
  • Document referrals, patient interactions, and phone calls, scheduling, and empanelment within the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Comply with specific standards that apply to the style of medical records and to the legal and ethical requirements for preparing medical documents and for keeping patient information confidential.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); no exceptions.
  • At least six (6) months of experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of Database software, Human Resource systems, Internet software, Ordering processing system, and Payroll systems.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred but not required.
  • Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation adjudication for childcare.
Working Conditions
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and taste or smell.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and or/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and fumes and airborne particles.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and risk of radiation.
