POSITION SUMMARY:


The individual in this role is accountable for a broad range of service-related support functions, including but not limited to the repair, maintenance, and performance verification of assigned products.

The products include company-owned demo equipment, instruments returned from clients, and customer-owned items.

This position entails the repair, maintenance, and installation of designated products.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Providing repair and maintenance support on assigned products. (Daily)

Accurate documentation and reporting of all repairs and product failures, and when applicable, providing design change and improvement recommendations. (Daily)

Timely submission of all required paperwork and documentation as necessary. (Daily)


May perform in-house bench repair work occasionally, while the majority of work time will involve field service calls under limited supervision.

Day and overnight travel in the local region, including possible assignments in neighboring areas. (Weekly)


Provide customers and field personnel with telephone technical support, repair parts shipments, and documentation required for instrument repairs, maintenance, and installations.

SCOPE:


This position's primary focus is to learn how to deliver quality, efficient service to our customers and to assist the regional staff in achieving the same.

Engineers will be assigned specific territories/customers as they continue to develop their service skills.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:


The incumbent should be proficient in effectively and efficiently troubleshooting and repairing instrument issues, performing installations, and providing, when necessary, customer and staff training.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The incumbent should possess at least an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Technology; a bachelor's degree is preferred. A minimum of four (4) years of field or in-house experience in analytical instrumentation repair work is required. The incumbent should demonstrate proficiency in at least five product line areas.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


May include frequent bending, standing, stooping, walking, talking, sitting/driving for extended periods, and pulling/pushing of instrumentation/parts.

The incumbent must be able to lift up to 40 pounds routinely throughout the workday and may occasionally assist in lifting heavier equipment.

The incumbent must have the use of hand to finger senses to operate and grasp hand tools for instrument repair.

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
This position requires maintaining proper housekeeping and safety standards, particularly concerning lab safety protocols.

Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices is mandated by Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:


This position is primarily field-based, with occasional work in the service repair lab, while the majority of workdays are spent traveling (day and overnight) to customer locations within the region.

The role requires the ability to work independently on projects, as well as collaborate as part of a team.

The incumbent may work at various sites throughout the business day to support the needs of Shimadzu customers.

Extra hours may occasionally be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities associated with this position.

The role will involve contact with company employees and external customers, necessitating prompt and friendly handling of all related inquiries.
