Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at Discovery Mood & Anxiety Programs. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting patients through their treatment experience, ensuring their safety and well-being, and contributing to the overall success of our program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Orienting New Patients

Provide a warm and welcoming introduction to our treatment program, its requirements, and routine. Complete necessary assessments within 24 hours of admission to ensure a smooth transition for our patients.

Monitoring Patient Safety

Conduct regular checks on patients in the milieu, bedrooms, or other areas to ensure their safety and well-being. Report any concerns or issues to the treatment team promptly.

Facilitating Treatment Plans

Work closely with therapists to provide day-to-day support to patients, helping them engage in positive coping skills and behaviors. Direct patients in a clear, concise, and informative manner to ensure they understand their treatment plan.

Leading Therapeutic Groups

Run and engage patients in therapeutic groups, such as coping skills, relapse prevention, and psychoeducation, for the expected length of time identified in the program schedule. Assist in providing group ideas and contribute to the overall success of our program.

Documenting Patient Behaviors

Document any behaviors that occur in the milieu in a thorough and appropriate manner, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to our program's policies and procedures.

Providing Excellent Customer Service

Answer phone calls promptly and politely, transferring inquiries to the therapist, milieu manager, or program director as needed. Maintain a clean environment by completing cleaning tasks and documenting as required.

Qualifications
  • Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree or one year of experience working with mental health or adolescents preferred.

Certifications

CPI and CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days of employment with Discovery required.

Communication Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and management.

Teamwork

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to the overall success of our program.
