Key Responsibilities- Participate in treatment planning by identifying patients' problems, needs, and strengths, and suggesting modifications to treatment plans based on observations of patients' behavior.
- Provide input during shift report and discharge planning, ensuring a smooth transition of care for our patients.
- Implement patients' treatment plans by monitoring their progress, communicating information regarding their behavior to other members of the treatment team, and maintaining open lines of communication with patients, family members, and referral sources.
- Co-facilitate didactic, educational, and community groups within the context of the adolescent treatment program, encouraging and facilitating patients' participation in therapeutic activities.
- Supervise patients to ensure their safety and involvement in treatment and during transport, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
- Maintain the therapeutic milieu on the unit, enforcing the level system or other methods of behavior management, and ensuring that all patients receive the care and support they need.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient, program, department, and related documentation, ensuring that all records are complete and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Orient new patients to the unit, program, and milieu, providing a warm and welcoming introduction to our services.
- Carry out general nursing assistance as assigned and supervised by the nurse in charge, providing support and care to patients as needed.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients, ensuring that all areas of the unit are clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Assist patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs, age, and developmental level, promoting independence and self-care.
- Carry out clerical/administrative assignments to support patient care and department and hospital operations, ensuring that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Participate in activities that enhance professional growth and development, staying up-to-date with the latest best practices and research in the field of mental health.
- Uphold the Organization's ethics and customer service standards, providing exceptional care and service to all patients, families, and colleagues.
- High school, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare environment preferred.
- CNA license a plus.
- Must obtain and maintain approved CPR certification as well as successful completion of Management of Assaultive Behavior training, including restraint and seclusion policies, prior to assuming patient care responsibility.
