Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Mental Health Systems, Inc. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in assisting clients in achieving their highest potential in all life skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage and support clients in achieving their vocational goals through the evidence-based model of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) Supported Employment.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to clients, drawing on your lived experience and knowledge to promote empowerment and hope.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to enhance empathy and professional effectiveness.
  • Advocate for clients by educating them about grievance or complaint procedures.
  • Provide education and support to family members.
  • Serve as a liaison between the team and consumer-run programs.
  • Provide ongoing 'side-by-side' services related to skills development, including accessing community resources to address basic needs, behavioral and physical health needs.
  • Transport clients in personal vehicle as required.
  • Provide outreach services to clients as necessary.
  • Work as part of a team and display a positive attitude, professional relationship, and respect towards clients and staff.

Requirements:

  • Peer Specialist Certification preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Life experience in mental health or SUD recovery or family and willingness to disclose required.
  • Valid CA driver's license and current auto insurance per contract requirements required.
  • Cultural competency understanding required. Bilingual preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and EHR software preferred.
