Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or Certificate in Nonprofit Management is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing personnel and/or leading teams and projects.
  • Experience overseeing various operational sectors such as facilities, safety, human resources, and IT in a nonprofit or similar context is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with managing legal professionals, brokers, and consultants is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of tenant rights and employment regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead with values and nurture a positive, inclusive organizational culture.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage and motivate diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex projects and facilitating organizational change.
  • A deep commitment to the mission and values of Hbofm, particularly in equity, compassion, and innovation.
  • A solid understanding that leadership equates to service and that operations involve creating robust systems that empower staff to perform their roles safely and efficiently.

Major Responsibilities:

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to five direct reports: the Director of Property Management, the Director of People and Culture, the Director of Data Analysis, the Director of HUD Programs, and the Director of Information Technology.
  • Conduct regular supervisory meetings and promote professional development for department leaders.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee the operations of various sectors, including facilities, safety, human resources, and information technology, ensuring they operate smoothly and align with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies that enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation throughout the organization.

Compliance and Policy Development:

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and policies, particularly those related to HUD programs and other funding sources.
  • Oversee HUD reporting and audits.
  • In collaboration with the Co-CEOs and Chief Program Officer, develop and revise operational policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement and formulate action plans accordingly.
  • Generate regular reports on operational metrics and key performance indicators for leadership review.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Oversee resource allocation and monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective operations.

Community Engagement:

  • Represent Hbofm in various forums, fostering strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, and the community.
  • Actively contribute to promoting a positive and inclusive organizational culture.

Liaison Duties:

  • Serve as the primary liaison to eviction attorneys, employment attorneys, insurance advisors, and insurance brokers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to address legal and insurance matters.
