Job Summary

The Denton County Transportation Authority is seeking a highly skilled Marketing and Communications Manager to lead the development and implementation of strategic marketing and public information programs. This role will be responsible for directing the activities of the Marketing and Communications Department, overseeing the agency's marketing and public participation plans, and managing external marketing contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing and public information programs to communicate DCTA services, expand ridership, and create a favorable understanding of public transportation.
  • Lead Public Involvement and Communications initiatives to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal requirements and regulations.
  • Manage all vendors and serve as the primary contract manager for external marketing contracts.
  • Lead the development and growth of advertising revenue programs.
  • Serve as the primary media contact and coordinate media releases and public information communications.
  • Oversee overall brand messaging and communication channels, including website, email, social media, and advertising.
  • Assist in the development, preparation, and administration of the budget of the Marketing and Communications Department.
  • Direct the Agency's market research activities, including customer satisfaction surveys and market segmentation.
  • Create, track, maintain, and provide regular reporting to the Board of Directors and Executive Team on marketing activities and metrics.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning and execution.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a management role leading marketing and communications teams, preferably in a public sector, transportation, or highly regulated environment.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale marketing campaigns, public relations efforts, and community outreach initiatives.
  • Experience in crisis communication and reputation management, particularly in high-stakes or public-facing situations.
  • Digital marketing experience, including website management, social media strategy, and analytics.

  • Experience working with governmental agencies or public entities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop a diverse team of professionals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively articulate complex ideas to various audiences.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
