Position Overview
As a Radiologic Imaging Specialist, you will perform a comprehensive range of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, generating critical images for diagnostic purposes as directed by licensed healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medications through various routes as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Utilize infusion pumps or power injectors for medication delivery as directed.
- Implement ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients, yourself, and others.
- Ensure patient safety is prioritized throughout all care processes.
- Assist in the maintenance of medical records while upholding confidentiality and established protocols.
- Collaborate with the patient's clinical history to ensure accurate documentation for licensed practitioners.
- Educate and supervise students and other healthcare professionals.
- Assess images for proper positioning and determine if additional imaging is necessary for optimal outcomes.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and ensure proper identification is recorded.
- Recognize and respond effectively to emergency situations.
- Prepare and administer medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Engage in ongoing quality assurance activities.
- Perform venipuncture as required.
- Prepare patients for procedures and provide necessary education.
- Document verbal, written, and electronic orders in the patient's medical record accurately.
- Select appropriate protocols and optimize technical factors to enhance patient safety.
- Manage intravenous access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
- Verify the archival storage of data and ensure informed consent is obtained for applicable procedures.
- Assist licensed practitioners during fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
- Conduct diagnostic radiographic and non-interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as directed.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in departmental quality assessment and improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the duplication of patient records for authorized requests.
- Transport patients as necessary and obtain additional records as needed.
- Fulfill continuing education requirements as mandated by the ARRT.
- Restock supplies and maintain a clean work environment.
- Be available for on-call duties as required.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in C-Arm and fluoroscopic procedures.
- Experience with pediatric and trauma radiographic examinations.
- Ability to document accurately and respond to changes in patient conditions.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism.
- Critical thinking and patient education capabilities.
