Position Overview:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at DSJ Global is responsible for fostering the development, execution, and upkeep of comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives. This role is crucial in ensuring adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal company policies. The EHS Specialist will collaborate with various departments to cultivate a robust culture of safety and environmental stewardship, with the goal of reducing workplace risks and environmental footprints.

Core Responsibilities:

Regulatory Adherence:

  • Guarantee compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other pertinent regulations.
  • Maintain and refresh all necessary EHS documentation and records.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports.

Safety Initiatives:

  • Design, implement, and oversee safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, documenting findings and formulating corrective measures.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness planning and training exercises.

Environmental Management:

  • Execute and oversee waste management, recycling, and pollution prevention initiatives.
  • Conduct assessments and audits of environmental impacts.
  • Manage hazardous materials, ensuring their proper storage, handling, and disposal.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and present EHS training programs for staff.
  • Ensure comprehensive training for all employees on EHS policies and procedures.
  • Encourage a safety-oriented culture through ongoing education and awareness initiatives.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
  • Formulate and implement strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to promote safe working practices.

Continuous Enhancement:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for process improvements to boost safety and environmental performance.
  • Engage in EHS audits and inspections conducted by regulatory bodies.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and regulatory updates.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Preferred professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH).

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role, ideally within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with EHS regulations and standards.
  • Experience with EHS management systems and software applications.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software tools.
