This role is crucial in ensuring adherence to applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal company standards. The EHS Specialist will collaborate with various departments to foster a proactive safety culture and minimize both workplace risks and environmental footprints.

Core Responsibilities:

Regulatory Adherence:

  • Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other pertinent regulations.
  • Maintain and refresh all necessary EHS documentation and records.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports in a timely manner.

Safety Initiatives:

  • Design, implement, and oversee safety programs and policies.
  • Conduct routine safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, providing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness planning and conduct drills.

Environmental Management:

  • Implement and oversee waste management, recycling, and pollution prevention strategies.
  • Conduct thorough environmental impact assessments and audits.
  • Manage hazardous materials, ensuring their proper storage, handling, and disposal.

Training and Awareness:

  • Develop and facilitate EHS training programs for all employees.
  • Ensure comprehensive training in EHS policies and procedures for all staff members.
  • Promote a safety-oriented culture through ongoing education and awareness initiatives.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards in the workplace.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote safe working practices.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and pursue opportunities for enhancing safety and environmental performance.
  • Participate in EHS audits and inspections conducted by regulatory bodies.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and changes in regulations.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH) are advantageous.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS capacity, ideally within the pharmaceutical or manufacturing sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and standards.
  • Experience with EHS management systems and software tools.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software applications.
