Job Title: Clinical Setting Addictions Counselor

SOME, Inc. is seeking a skilled Clinical Setting Addictions Counselor to join our Behavioral Health Services department at our 60 O Street location.

Job Summary:

The Clinical Setting Addictions Counselor will provide individual counseling, group facilitation, intake, and assessment of clients in the addictions treatment program. This role requires a strong understanding of mental health and substance abuse issues, including co-occurring diagnoses in a residential setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct initial individual assessments and develop treatment plans
  • Assess clients for financial eligibility and make referrals for enrollment when needed
  • Provide outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment services to clients
  • Develop and facilitate addictions groups and provide individual addictions counseling
  • Participate in treatment planning, supervision meetings, and interdisciplinary meetings
  • Assess client readiness for the current level of care and transfer to residential treatment
  • Conduct case management for clients in collaboration with staff and programs
  • Complete discharge planning and make referrals to alternative programs as needed
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling; or Certified Addictions Counselor DC license
  • 1-2 years of experience providing addiction treatment or mental health services
  • Experience providing services to the homeless population
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience providing addiction treatment or mental health services
  • Experience providing services to the homeless population
Physical Requirements:

The position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and sit for long periods. The candidate must also be able to look at a computer screen for several hours a day.
