This role supports the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) within the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) BCA is responsible for providing extensive IT operations, support services, custom application development, and specialized business support functions for law enforcement services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, deploy, and maintain computer systems.
- Provide support for PCs, mobile devices, and software applications.
- Address inquiries regarding application functionalities and issues.
- Assist users with BCA-specific software.
- Conduct hardware installation and maintenance.
- Configure TCP/IP networks.
- Administer user accounts within the BCA.
- Collaborate with technical staff and external vendors.
Position Requirements:
To qualify, candidates must demonstrate the following:
- At least one year of IT experience in desktop support.
- Experience with personal computers and mobile devices.
- Familiarity with server/client applications.
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent customer service abilities, including active listening and problem-solving.
An associate's degree or higher in Information Technology or a related field can substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in enterprise support.
- In-depth knowledge of system hardware.
- Understanding of networking infrastructure.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves regular lifting and moving of equipment such as desktops, monitors, and laptops, with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
