Key Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with clients and provide peer support services in both group and individual settings.
- Assist clients in developing and implementing recovery plans, including setting and achieving goals.
- Advocate for clients within the healthcare system and community resources, ensuring they receive the necessary support and services.
- Facilitate support groups and educational programs, promoting a culture of recovery and wellness.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
- Participate in training and supervision to enhance peer support skills, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong understanding of mental health and substance use disorders, including their causes, symptoms, and treatment options.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and boundaries with clients, adhering to all relevant laws and regulations.
- Empathetic and nonjudgmental approach to supporting individuals in recovery, promoting a culture of respect and understanding.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a background check, ensuring a safe and secure work environment.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed, providing flexibility and support to clients.
- Knowledge of local resources for individuals in recovery, including healthcare services, support groups, and community programs.
- Experience with documentation and recordkeeping in a healthcare setting, ensuring accurate and confidential client records.
