Position Overview

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families? Lutheran Services in Iowa is seeking a dedicated Resettlement Caseworker to assist in the successful integration of refugee populations through our comprehensive Immigrant and Refugee Community Services.

Key Responsibilities

As a Caseworker, you will play a vital role in guiding newly arrived refugee clients through the resettlement journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Facilitating access to essential services, including pre-arrival housing coordination, airport pickups, employment opportunities, school enrollment, and other necessary resources.
  • Providing transportation and support for clients during appointments.
  • Collaborating with volunteers and community organizations to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Conducting client assessments, setting achievable goals, and developing self-sufficiency plans using a client-centered, trauma-informed, and strengths-based methodology.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of services and managing comprehensive case files.

Service activities may take place during standard business hours, evenings, or weekends based on client needs and arrival schedules. Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel.


Qualifications

Required: A Bachelor's degree in health and human services, accompanied by at least one year of full-time, relevant experience in the field. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered, such as an Associate's degree with three years of experience or a high school diploma/GED with five years of related work.

Relevant experience includes roles in human services, family support, mental health, public health, nursing, community resource navigation, behavioral health, and work with immigrant and refugee populations.
