Position Overview

As a Cost Accounting Specialist at Nextivity Inc., you will play a crucial role in supporting the Company's expansion and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Your responsibilities will encompass a range of ad hoc initiatives and routine monthly duties within the Cost Accounting division.

The ideal candidate will possess a proactive attitude and will enhance operational efficiency by refining existing processes and contributing to the development of scalable solutions for new procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and investigate variances in moving average unit costs.
  • Examine work orders and bills of materials.
  • Plan and execute inventory audits.
  • Reconcile and finalize work-in-progress (WIP) jobs.
  • Review in-transit and aged inventory.
  • Support inventory and WIP-related inquiries from internal and external auditors, procurement, material planners, and other departments.
  • Collect and compile cost data, maintaining a comprehensive database of expenses.
  • Develop systems and procedures for cost accumulation and accounting functions.
  • Forecast, plan, and document variable costs including raw materials, labor, and operational expenses.
  • Assess and analyze actual costs to identify discrepancies.
  • Evaluate, analyze, and report on actual profit margins.
  • Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Provide product sample cost estimates for Marketing and General Accounting.
  • Assist with technical accounting documentation as required.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an effective individual contributor.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Proactive in taking initiative and collaborating within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment while representing the Company and collaborating with others.
  • Competence in data analysis and identifying cost drivers and dependencies.
  • Capability to analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive financial reports, statements, and forecasts.
  • Aptitude for motivating teams to produce quality outcomes within tight deadlines while managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), financial statements, and accounting theory.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, quick learner, inquisitive, and persistent.
  • Process-oriented with a proactive approach.
  • Goal-oriented and capable of working independently in a dynamic environment.
Experience and Education
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting or relevant experience is required.
  • Preferred experience in Cost Accounting.
  • CPA designation is preferred.
  • Experience with Big 4 or other public accounting firms is advantageous.
  • Experience in a large company with revenue exceeding $100M is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
