Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pricing and Costing Specialist is responsible for the ongoing assessment and modification of product pricing and associated costs. This role will report directly to the Finance Director while also collaborating closely with the Sales Director. The specialist will engage in various pricing, costing, and accounting activities as outlined in the essential responsibilities. A positive work environment is essential for success in this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

PRICING MANAGEMENT:

  • Determine selling prices for newly launched products utilizing the internal pricing module, incorporating insights from Research & Development and Sales teams.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and timely updates of product pricing, ensuring all items are reviewed at least annually or as dictated by market dynamics.
  • Promptly adjust the Sales Quote System based on new customer orders and requests from the Sales Team, ensuring updates are completed within a 24-hour timeframe.
  • Support the creation and upkeep of effective volume discount programs.

COST ANALYSIS:

  • Collaborate with Purchasing and R&D teams to remain informed about market and seasonal fluctuations in commodity products and ingredients, adjusting pricing proactively.
  • Maintain and update the unit-costing module in the internal system by analyzing daily purchasing data and external market trends.
  • Gather and evaluate material costs for raw materials and production processes.
  • Assist in the formulation and maintenance of a Standard Material and Labor Costing System.
  • Analyze sales volumes and gross margin calculations to identify profitability trends.
  • Contribute to the monthly accounting close process related to Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and inventory valuations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Managerial or Accounting preferred).
  • Proficient in MRP systems and Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing extensive databases.
  • Strong foundation in accounting, statistics, and trend analysis.
  • Experience in general and/or cost accounting, preferably in a standard costing environment.
  • Exceptional numerical acumen and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
