Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Tech to join our team at WMCHealth. As a Mental Health Tech, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Hygiene and Grooming Services
    • Provide or assist patients with personal hygiene services, including bathing, oral care, and dressing, while maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Mobility Support
    • Assist patients with physical mobility needs, such as ambulation, repositioning, and bed rest, to ensure their comfort and safety.
  • Nutrition and Meal Support
    • Assist patients with meal preparation, feeding, and hydration, while maintaining accurate calorie counts and NPO status.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    • Effectively communicate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure quality patient outcomes and provide emotional support.
  • Vital Signs and Treatment Administration
    • Assess and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respirations, in accordance with unit-specific policies.
    • Administer treatments and procedures as directed by licensed healthcare professionals, adhering to established policies and patient care standards.
  • Rounds and Safety Checks
    • Conduct regular unit rounds and scheduled room searches to ensure patients' comfort and safety needs are met, and report any concerns to RN and/or LPN staff.
  • Environmental Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient and unit environment, including bedmaking and supply management.
  • Milieu Management
    • Contribute to a positive and therapeutic environment by monitoring and reporting significant events and incidents to RN and/or LPN staff.
  • Supply Management
    • Restock supplies and linens as needed to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Unit Competencies
    • Develop and maintain competencies in crisis prevention and management, restraint use, and application, as required by the unit.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Education
    • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience; experience in the mental health field is preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • CNA certification is preferred.
