Position Overview:
The Community Development Mortgage Loan Originator role emphasizes Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives and multicultural mortgage originations.

The individual in this position will be tasked with generating residential mortgage loans aimed at Low to Moderate Income (LMI) communities, predominantly minority populations, LMI individuals, and minority individuals within designated market areas.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Consistently generate mortgage applications that lead to closed transactions, meeting or surpassing established monthly production targets.

2. Engage with community organizations to enhance CRA visibility for Peoples Bancorp and facilitate loans for low- and moderate-income borrowers.

3. Self-source mortgage loans through established referral networks, community groups, housing agencies, local business leaders, real estate professionals, and other referral channels.

4. Organize and conduct home-buying workshops for prospective CRA and multicultural mortgage applicants.

5. Collaborate with community, non-profit, and governmental entities focused on affordable housing initiatives or minority communities.

6. Stay updated on industry regulations and governmental mandates related to CRA housing requirements.

7. Complete all annual compliance training and assessments, adhering to bank, federal, and state regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.


Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

Education and Experience:
Preferred candidates will possess a BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in residential mortgage sales, along with:

2-4 years of experience in residential loan processing, loan origination, or housing counseling within a financial institution, mortgage banking firm, or non-profit organization.


Essential Skills:
1. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, effectively engaging diverse audiences.

2. Proven ability to meet sales objectives while fostering a positive customer experience.

3. Advanced understanding of complex loan products and services critical to the business unit.

4. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

5. Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage loan offerings, conventional loan structures, and applicable Federal and State regulations.


Certifications and Licenses:

This position necessitates registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and the ability to obtain the required license as determined by management.

Candidates must successfully navigate the registration process, which includes a criminal background and credit check, and maintain compliance with NMLS regulations.


Technical Proficiency:
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel, with experience utilizing laptop technology.
