Job Overview

Position Summary:

The role of the Universal Banker is to engage customers through a consultative approach, fostering relationships built on trust while identifying their financial needs and proposing suitable solutions. This position encompasses teller responsibilities, ensuring accurate transaction processing and delivering prompt, efficient customer service. Additionally, the Universal Banker serves as a consultant, educating customers about various banking products and facilitating referrals to enhance the financial growth of the banking center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Engagement: Actively greet and assist customers, managing the lobby to connect with them and understand their needs.
  • Service Excellence: Uphold the highest standards of customer service, exceeding expectations through adherence to company service protocols.
  • Transaction Processing: Handle deposits, wires, and loan payments while following check cashing guidelines and maintaining accurate records.
  • Teller Operations: Manage the teller drawer with precision, ensuring daily balancing and cash verification.
  • Additional Duties: Be open to taking on other responsibilities as assigned.

Sales and Marketing:

  • Be a motivated team player, responsible for achieving established service and sales objectives.
  • Open new accounts for customers and maintain existing accounts with diligence.
  • Stay informed about all banking products, services, and promotions to provide accurate information to customers.
  • Participate in community outreach initiatives to enhance the bank's visibility and generate new business opportunities.
  • Educate customers on managing financial transactions using available technology tools.
  • Identify opportunities for referrals to other bank associates or departments for specialized financial products/services.
  • Proactively reach out to customers to discuss financial products/services and provide general financial guidance.
  • Administer consumer lending processes, guiding customers through lending options and completing necessary documentation.

Compliance and Security:

  • Adhere strictly to Bank Secrecy Act regulations and organizational policies in all activities.
  • Comply with all departmental and company policies, ensuring overall security.
  • Manage teller drawer operations while performing various customer service tasks.
  • Alert appropriate staff to any potential risks or suspicious customer behavior.
  • May be involved in branch opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a banking environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly.
  • Professional experience in anticipating customer concerns and improving current processes.
  • Proficient in personal organization with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and maintain a sales-oriented demeanor.
  • Confident in interactions with clients and team members.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Able to plan and organize professional schedules to meet strategic goals.
  • Flexible and responsive to change, adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Proficient in computer applications.
