Solar Module Equipment Specialist

POSITION SUMMARYQcells is a leader in the solar energy sector, dedicated to designing, constructing, and managing economically viable solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions. The Equipment Engineer plays a pivotal role in the production of solar modules, encompassing tasks such as soldering, quality inspection, mechanical assembly, and machinery oversight, all while adhering to stringent industry standards and production timelines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations and repair malfunctioning machinery across all facets of factory automation.
- Commission control systems, troubleshoot operational challenges, and calibrate equipment and process instrumentation, including flow and pressure transmitters and level sensors.
- Implement preventative maintenance; maintain inventory of essential spare parts, accurately log data into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), execute work orders, back up programs, and ensure that prints and manuals are current.
- Utilize established guidelines in SolidWorks, Inventor, and AutoCAD to develop solid models and detailed schematics.
- Troubleshoot issues related to programmable logic control (PLC), HMI, motors, and motor control systems.
- Perform root cause analysis for defective components and apply materials and fabrication knowledge to propose enhancements.
- Identify critical machine components and evaluate essential design features to guarantee reliability in the operational environment.
- Drive improvements in operations and reduce costs by refining industrial control systems.
- Carry out all responsibilities while adhering to safe work practices and complying with all plant safety regulations.
- Generate and maintain regular reports aligned with departmental requirements to monitor progress and promote action on equipment enhancements.
- Complete assigned work orders, draft work requests, and collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and repair processing and solar module machinery.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of solar module equipment.
- Comply with the policies and procedures of Qcells.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as directed by management.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Bilingual proficiency in Korean.
- Over one year of relevant experience (internships and significant college projects included).
- Experience in machine design, including the specification of bearings, drive train components, and the design of fabricated parts for optimal fit and assembly.
- Proficient in SolidWorks, Inventor, and Autodesk.
- Knowledge of materials (corrosion, failure mechanisms, material strength) is essential.
- Strong skills in related software, including AutoCAD and MS Office applications, as well as project management tools.
- Familiarity with project management, finite element analysis, or other mechanical analysis software, and PDM systems.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment, including areas that are not climate-controlled.
- Assertive, capable of handling pressure, and a collaborative team player.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to stand and walk throughout the production area during the workday.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds without restrictions.
- Capable of reaching, pushing, pulling, or lifting as necessary within the limits established by Qcells.
- Willing to engage in prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Equipment may require disassembly or assembly for extended periods for inspection and maintenance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual proficiency in Korean.
- Experience with factory automation, robotics, actuators, or complex servo-controlled systems.
- Experience in part design and assembly plot design using AutoCAD (2D).
- Experience in machining, assembly, and maintenance of machine components.
- Familiarity with Visual Basic, JavaScript, C++, PLC, Inspection Vision, and deep learning designs.
- Ability to work independently and creatively while continuously enhancing skills.
- Demonstrate accountability for job-related challenges and maintain ownership of responsibilities.
