Senior Mechanical Engineering Specialist

We are currently seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for Advanced Reactors to join our dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide the design and analysis processes for AP1000 and AP300 power generation facilities.
  • Collaborate with various component, system, and manufacturing leaders to ensure seamless integration of subsystems while addressing design challenges.
  • Coordinate with testing teams to formulate plans for necessary functional and qualification assessments.
  • Work alongside project managers and subsystem/component leaders to establish and uphold project timelines.
  • Lead intricate technical initiatives, managing cross-functional teams to achieve project goals within set schedules and budgets.
  • Identify and articulate technical challenges, directing efforts towards effective solutions.
  • Apply engineering principles to resolve ambiguities in problem definitions, leveraging expertise in the relevant discipline.
  • Utilize industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and codes pertinent to nuclear reactor design in all engineering activities.
  • Provide technical leadership and collaborate with various stakeholders, including national laboratories, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Engage in fast-paced and demanding research and development projects.
  • Exhibit adaptability and flexibility in response to shifts in strategy, market conditions, design, or manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering high-quality engineering outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's or PhD preferred); alternate degrees such as nuclear, aerospace, structural engineering, or materials science will be considered with relevant design experience.
  • Possession of a Mechanical PE license.
  • Familiarity with advanced reactor technologies and designs is advantageous.
  • Expertise in system and component-level design.
  • Knowledge and experience in HVAC systems.
  • Extensive experience in a technical leadership capacity, either as an independent contributor or leading a small team, with a focus on design, analysis, and manufacturing.
  • Experience with the mechanical behavior of materials and components under irradiation conditions.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong collaborative skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or 6 years with an advanced degree (10+ years preferred).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
