The Admissions Counselor plays a critical role in the recruitment and enrollment of new students at George Mason University. This position requires a highly motivated and organized individual who can effectively communicate with prospective students and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Recruit new undergraduate students by conducting recruitment activities in assigned territories
- Develop and maintain relationships with high schools, community colleges, and other educational institutions
- Meet with prospective students and their families to discuss academic programs and campus life
- Conduct presentations and information sessions to promote George Mason University
- Manage university funds responsibly and engage in follow-up activities with prospective students and applicants
- Review and make admissions decisions on undergraduate applicant files
- Support the review of transfer and non-degree applicants as needed
- Participate in admissions events and assist with planning and logistics
- Contribute to marketing-related activities and review content related to prospective and admitted undergraduate students
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated customer service experience and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment and perform work with substantial attention to detail
- Must possess an active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment
