The Role

This position plays a vital role in supporting the Independence at Home (IAH) grant accounting by performing tasks such as generating billings, collecting data, tracking financial information, reconciling accounts, processing cash receipts, assisting with month-end closings, preparing budgets, and executing special administrative/accounting projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Record Medi-Cal enrollments, changes, and terminations using designated software and online platforms.
  • Verify Medi-Cal eligibility on a monthly basis for assigned clients, tracking denials and ineligible clients.
  • Prepare and review billing statements for State, County, and local agencies utilizing specified software.
  • Conduct research and prepare appeals, credits, and re-bills for relevant agencies.
  • Reconcile payments received from government funding sources by comparing billed data against Remittance Advice details.
  • Match vendor invoices with Service Authorization Forms (SAF), Purchase Orders, and other supporting documents according to corporate policies.
  • Prepare check requests for all Purchase of Service and Waived invoices, process check deposits, claims, and claim adjustment forms.
  • Review and prepare all administrative invoices for IAH and reconcile them with purchase orders.
  • Maintain transportation taxi-cards and vouchers through mailing and/or data entry of monthly allotments and mid-month requests, updating vendor websites as necessary.
  • Manage inventory for transportation and food vouchers by logging transactions, conducting quarterly physical inventories, and purchasing vouchers as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to billings, payments, and expenses, escalating complex matters as necessary.
  • Update and distribute reports for tracking billing, payments, expenses, and eligibility as required, streamlining processes where possible.
  • Prepare monthly indirect cost allocations.
  • Compile month-end journal entries for posting to the General Ledger by reconciling expense accounts, preparing worksheets, submitting them for management approval, and entering data into the accounting system as directed.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual IAH accounting close processes.
  • Support the time study process to ensure accurate billing to government entities.
  • Contribute to the annual budget process and forecasting.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Prepare and research documentation required for audits.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed, investigating issues as they arise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required, with a concentration in Accounting preferred. A comparable combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • 5+ years of experience in a healthcare environment, with grant accounting experience being a plus.
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of General Ledger, including AP, AR, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in multiple software applications is required, including intermediate skills in Excel and Word; knowledge of Oracle is a plus.

Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Exceptional organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks. Ability to perform work with high accuracy and attention to detail. Capability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management and staff.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range:
$25.38 to $40.62 per hour
