The Role

This position supports the Independence at Home (IAH) grant accounting by managing billings, data collection, tracking, reconciliation, processing cash receipts, assisting with month-end closing, budget preparation, and undertaking special administrative/accounting projects as assigned.

Responsibilities include:
- Accurately completing accounting tasks with meticulous attention to detail.
- Recording Medi-Cal enrollments, modifications, and terminations in designated software and platforms.
- Verifying Medi-Cal eligibility monthly for specific clients and monitoring denials and ineligible clients.
- Preparing and reviewing billing for State, County, and local agencies using designated software.
- Researching and preparing appeals, credits, and re-bills for relevant agencies.
- Reconciling payments from government funding sources by comparing billed data against Remittance Advice details.
- Reconciling vendor invoices with Service Authorization Forms (SAF), Purchase Orders, and other supporting documents per corporate guidelines.
- Preparing check requests for all Purchase of Service and Waived invoices, processing check deposits, claims, and claim adjustment forms.
- Reviewing and preparing all administrative invoices for IAH and reconciling them to purchase orders.
- Maintaining transportation taxi-cards and vouchers through mailing and/or data entry of monthly allotments and mid-month requests, as well as updating vendor websites for new transportation cards and other changes as necessary.

Maintaining inventory for transportation and food vouchers by logging transactions, conducting quarterly physical inventory, and purchasing vouchers as needed.

Additional duties include:
- Researching and resolving billing, payment, and expense issues, escalating complex matters as necessary.
- Updating and distributing reports for tracking billing, payments, expenses, and eligibility as required, while streamlining processes as needed.
- Preparing monthly indirect cost allocations.

- Preparing month-end journal entries for posting to the General Ledger by reconciling expense accounts, preparing worksheets, submitting them for management approval, and entering them into the accounting system as directed.

- Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual IAH accounting close processes.
- Supporting the time study process to ensure accurate billing to government entities.
- Assisting with the annual budget process and forecasting.
- Communicating effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Preparing and researching documentation for all required audits.
- Performing ad hoc reporting and analysis, investigating issues as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Your Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required, with a concentration in Accounting preferred.
A comparable combination of education, experience, and/or training will be considered equivalent to the education listed above.

  • 5+ years of experience in a healthcare environment, with grant accounting being a plus.
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of

General Ledger:
AP, AR, journal entries, and account reconciliations.

Proficient in multiple software packages:
Intermediate Excel and Word required, with knowledge of Oracle being a plus.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Strong organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
Ability to perform work with high accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of management and staff.
