Director of Accounts Payable Operations

Overview
The Director of Accounts Payable will lead the accounts payable function for Fairview Health Services, partnering with Supply Chain and Accounting to drive continuous improvement of the procure-pay-record cycle. This individual will focus on effective controls, standard efficient processes, and optimization of IT systems and tools, including automation.
This role will drive efficiency for the organization by managing disbursement cashflows, reducing the cost of the payment cycle, and enhancing the value derived from payment programs. The Director will also oversee an excellent customer experience with vendors and operating leaders, reporting directly to the Vice President of Finance and System Controller.
Responsibilities
- Manage leadership within accounts payable to ensure quality service and positive employee and customer relationships.
- Direct all accounts payable processes and functions, including timely and cost-effective remittance of all payments, maintaining the vendor master, invoice management, and purchasing card and travel programs.
- Foster a culture of improvement, efficiency, and innovative thinking within the team and continuously work to improve disbursement processes and standards.
- Lead work process changes, improvements, and re-engineering efforts to improve department efficiency and accuracy.
- Create and maintain all policies and procedures necessary and related to the control of company assets and the proper characterization of financial transactions.
- Train and educate personnel in the implementation of system and function policies and procedures.
- Actively monitor and control compliance with Fairview disbursement policies.
- Responsive to annual and periodic audits, which involve review of expense disbursement systems and policies.
- Develop and implement function metrics and continuously monitor and improve results for people engagement, efficiency, quality, and customer experiences.
- Create the overall strategy of Fairview's payment programs, including development of business plans and demonstrating benefits to both internal and external customers for cost reduction and rebate maximization.
- Work with external business partners and customers to ensure payment programs are operating at maximum efficiency and benefit, and resolving any payment issues that arise within the programs in a timely manner.
- Coordinate information system capabilities, reports, knowledge of new or developing software applications, and other technology used in supporting accounts payable operations and implement these where feasible.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business or related field.
- 7 years of leadership experience in Accounts Payable, or a combination of Accounts Payable, Supply Chain, and/or ERP Applications Support.
Preferred
- Masters degree in Business or related field.
- 10 years' experience in related areas and progressive leadership positions.
