Job Summary:

The Food Service Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the culinary team at Isl Edu, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food services to our students and staff. This position requires a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, food safety, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive attitude in meeting the needs of customers, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive dining experience.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and supervisors, promoting a culture of respect and open communication.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to prepare and serve meals, snacks, and catering projects, adhering to established recipes and portion control methods.
  • Monitor and maintain the salad bar, ensuring a variety of fresh and healthy options for our customers.
  • Assist with meal service, including setting up the cafeteria, serving food, and cleaning up after meals.
  • Participate in food safety and sanitation training, adhering to HACCP guidelines and Department of Health & Hospitals regulations.
  • Perform routine maintenance of the cafeteria, dry storage pantry, and equipment, including monthly deep cleaning.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist with preparing daily meals, including field trip bag lunches, and ensure that reimbursable meals meet requirements.
  • Enter student meals into a computerized system at the Point of Service, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and replenishing food supplies, ensuring a consistent and high-quality food service.
  • Participate in School-mandated trainings and/or meetings, staying up-to-date on industry best practices and company policies.
  • Maintain compliance with all school policies and procedures, adhering to Isl Edu's mission and values.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of two years work experience in routine food preparation and/or serving experience.
  • Basic food handling, kitchen sanitation techniques, and personal hygiene related to food handling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
