Benefits Liaison Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Benefits Liaison to join our team at CROSSROADS REHABILITATION CENTER INC. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability programs, as well as other Federal, State, and local work incentive programs.
Job Summary:The Benefits Liaison will assist Social Security Beneficiaries and their support network in understanding how income from work or other sources affects a variety of benefits, including Medicaid, Medicare Part A, B, and D, Social Security Disability Insurance, Supplemental Security Income, food assistance, housing subsidies, and other state and federal benefits.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform detailed intakes on referred beneficiaries
- Verify available benefits and work incentives with the Social Security Administration or other federal and state benefit verification systems
- Research and investigate unique situations through Internet searches, telephone calls, or other resources within the Benefits Information Network
- Interpret federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and administrative code about public benefits
- Write comprehensive plans in terms a beneficiary can understand that explain the rules and incentives of earning and reporting income to Social Security and other social service agencies
- Collaborate with SSA programs and other federal and state programs and personnel
- Maintain annual Benefits Information Network Certification
- Input referral information into EMR
- Bachelor's or associate Degree in related field(s), e.g. public administration, social services, business, rehabilitation or related discipline
- Current certification or ability to quickly obtain certification for benefits counseling through one of the following: (1) Indiana Benefits Information Network (Tier 1 or Tier 2; (2) Virginia Commonwealth University (CPWIC); or (3) Cornell University (WIP-C)
- Certification must be renewed and maintained every year
