Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer with expertise in SD-WAN to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, deploying, and supporting SD-WAN solutions for large-scale networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and integrate SD-WAN technologies for our sponsors' networks
  • Design, implement, and evaluate SD-WAN solutions for large-scale networks
  • Support architecture development, integration, and testing prototypes in operationally-realistic environments
  • Collaborate with other members of the network engineering team to ensure successful project delivery
  • Document work in formal technical reports and informal memoranda
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or another related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience in network engineering
  • Demonstrated extensive experience with SD-WAN products from vendors such as Cisco Viptela, VMware VeloCloud, Juniper SSR, Silver Peak, or Fortinet
  • Knowledgeable of current SDN implementations and its use in LAN, CAN, and datacenter environments
  • Hands-on experience with routing protocols, such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with a focus in Communications, Networking or another related technical discipline
  • At least ten years of knowledge and experience in data networking and IP standards
  • Experience with analysis or development of session and presentation layer software technologies
