Job Overview

SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing all operations and performance at the designated manufacturing facility. This position is tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining processes that enhance productivity and efficiency in manufacturing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assume full responsibility for the performance of assigned projects, focusing on quality, production, and ongoing enhancements of the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain and update master files in accordance with quality standards, actively participating in new product introductions to ensure capacity, process layout, and timelines are effectively managed.
  • Provide accurate cost and timing estimates for engineering modifications requested by clients, ensuring production capabilities are met and changes are optimized to minimize waste and labor costs.
  • Oversee the scheduling, documentation, and financial aspects of assigned projects.
  • Engage in communication with sales teams and suppliers.
  • Conduct customer visits as necessary.
  • Identify and analyze inefficiencies such as scrap, rework, and labor within assigned projects to determine root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Address client concerns, formulate action plans, execute corrections, and maintain transparent communication.
  • Manage timelines for assigned projects, including customer meetings, plant trials, and addressing any client issues.
  • Participate in the APQP process, provide quotes for new business and engineering changes, track budgets, and contribute to plant layout and tooling approvals.
  • Take on additional duties or special projects as assigned.

  • Adhere to process input/output responsibilities as outlined in individual quality and environmental process documents.
  • Follow work instruction responsibilities as detailed in quality and environmental work instructions.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in manufacturing processes are essential.
  • Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing sector is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills for problem-solving are required.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is expected.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage shifting priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, including remote team members, while being proactive and self-sufficient.
  • Comprehend and adhere to all quality, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Participate in recycling initiatives.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours and shifts as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Utilize required safety equipment.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Proficient in writing routine reports and correspondence. Capable of effectively communicating in group settings.

Ability to perform calculations involving discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Familiarity with basic algebra and geometry concepts is required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and manage various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting diverse instructions provided in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
