POSITION SUMMARY

This position offers technical oversight and advisory services across design, engineering, manufacturing, and quality sectors to ensure that products are produced using both current and innovative methodologies, thereby meeting initial capabilities and design objectives.   • In-depth understanding of the quality management system and its daily application.
  • Act as a technical liaison between manufacturing and quality concerning all aspects of quality systems, protocols, guidance, and processes, including the implementation and maintenance of Quality Assurance.
  • Oversee activities related to identifying, tracking, and resolving quality issues.
  • Provide technical guidance and consultation to Manufacturing, Engineering, Sales, and Purchasing to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Assess and develop quality requirements while maintaining leading-edge technological advancements.
  • Analyze engineering designs to ensure that the engineering approach guarantees first-time capability with outstanding part quality.
  • Accountable for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Coordinate and manage customer complaints, demonstrating proficiency in navigating customer portals.
  • Examine drawings and specifications to confirm compliance with quality reliability standards. Monitor engineering changes through the system (ECN).
  • Review and assess Control Plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), acceptance sampling, etc. (DCP).
  • Provide Manufacturing and/or Engineering with metrology insights.
  • Assist Quality Assurance personnel with training and support to ensure satisfactory quality performance.
  • As needed, instruct quality and manufacturing staff on the operation of new and existing equipment.
  • Conduct capability studies and process potential assessments (Cp, Cpk, Minitab).
  • Serve as a direct link with company management to coordinate resolutions for quality issues.
  • Participate in all customer, external, and internal quality audits.
  • Collaborate with engineering to review all safety and critical characteristics to reach mutual agreement on specifications.
  • Lead prototype initiatives to ensure customer requirements are fulfilled, including pre-production orders (PPPS).
  • Develop and manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for new and modified products.
  • Support the quality manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality System.
  • Monitor and assist manufacturing in process control and development.
  • Exhibit a strong interest in product knowledge; understand the products being manufactured.
  • Guide inspectors and technicians alongside the quality supervisor in conducting annual capability studies.
  • Direct technical customer support and service for assigned accounts.
  • Lead customer problem-solving initiatives for the designated area.
  • Create IATF cascading documents (process flow, FMEA, Control plans, check sheets, etc.) (DCP).
  • Support the quality hold area and manage non-conforming materials.
  • Follow up with customers regarding product trials and corrective actions.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) to communicate and monitor dimensional variations.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or science, or a comparable degree and/or equivalent experience. A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the quality domain, preferably in Tier One (BIW-Body in White). Experience with General Motors or other OEM customers is essential. Certification as an IATF internal auditor or Lead Auditor is advantageous.
