Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Product Launch Specialist is responsible for driving engineering modifications and collaborating with the team to identify optimal solutions and assess feasibility. This role involves conducting cost assessments, time evaluations, inventory management, engineering change notice validation, and breakpoint oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather and comprehend the requirements of the manufacturing facility, which includes materials, process integration, automation, error-proofing, machinery, layout design, and workforce considerations.
  • Evaluate the investment in the program.
  • Act as the plant's representative in the assessment of drawings, mathematical data, processes, and tooling or equipment designs.
  • Identify and develop strategies to mitigate risks during program development.
  • Understand the technical specifications of new equipment investments to ensure readiness and efficiency for production.
  • Lead the approval process for equipment and tooling.
  • Oversee the in-plant tuning, tooling, and equipment strategy, including floor layout, utility provisions, and personnel support management; maintain an open issues log.
  • Prepare the facility for material handling, labor allocation, production scheduling, assembly lines, and work-in-progress storage.
  • Organize trial productions and sample submissions.
  • Support the team in resolving issues arising from trial production to meet capacity, quality, dimensional, and cost objectives.
  • Update documentation to reflect production versions, including control plans, work instructions, process failure mode effects analysis, and flowcharts.
  • Assist in the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to secure Part Submission Warrant (PSW) approval.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in product launch, preferably within the automotive manufacturing sector.
  • Familiarity with materials, particularly plastics and metals, is advantageous.
  • Experience in automotive interiors and exteriors is preferred, especially with plastic injection, two-shot injection, roll forming, stamping, and aluminum extrusion.
  • Strong technical proficiency in materials, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
  • High self-motivation and proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage directly with clients while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
