Vertex Aerospace is in search of a qualified Procurement Specialist II to enhance our Supply Chain Department. The ideal candidate will be tasked with formulating proposals for long-term agreements, developing Basic Order Agreements (BOAs), and sourcing new Scope of Work (SOW) projects. This role involves creating procurement folders in line with compliance standards and negotiating costs with suppliers regarding parts and components, including delivery terms and conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, negotiate, and acquire machinery, tools, packaging materials, and services essential for aerospace operations.
  • Analyze statistical data to assess the feasibility of product purchases and set pricing objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance and identify opportunities for material acquisition optimization.
  • Track market trends and pricing dynamics to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to evaluate their operations, ensuring the best cost aligned with quality and schedule requirements.
  • Review proposals, negotiate pricing, and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotes (RFQs).
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in personal and professional conduct.
  • Engage in additional projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in government, industrial, or aerospace purchasing, or an Associate Degree with at least six years of experience, or a high school diploma with ten years of directly related experience is required.

Experience in preparing RFQs/RFPs, negotiating terms, and making best value sourcing decisions is essential. Candidates should have a background in bid solicitation and supplier selection based on best value analysis with federal contractors.

Confidentiality of sensitive information and company proprietary data must be maintained. Some travel may be necessary, and adherence to company policies and management instructions is expected.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, along with the ability to present financial information clearly. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Material Management processes.
  • Familiarity with FAR requirements and U.S. Government subcontracting.
  • Experience with SAP software for reporting and placing purchase orders.
  • Experience in establishing strategic relationships with key suppliers aligned with company needs.
  • Forecasting and planning experience related to U.S. Navy, Air Force, or other government program requirements.
