About the RoleAs a Housing Specialist at Unity Care, you will play a vital role in assisting system-involved youth from foster care, probation, or other settings to identify independent-living housing and obtain the necessary resources. Your primary responsibility will be to develop an action plan with clients, manage lease options and negotiations, conduct unit inspections, and ensure rent is reasonable and affordable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with completing necessary documentation for program compliance, housing vouchers, and UC contract obligations.
  • Locate and secure appropriate and affordable housing for clients.
  • Advise and direct clients in developing and implementing an action plan to achieve stable housing.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of available housing in the community.
  • Serve as a liaison with landlords and utility companies to facilitate client success.
  • Provide transportation to clients as needed.
  • Conduct quality inspections of properties and ensure units meet rent reasonableness standards.

Requirements:

  • AA/AS degree in social work, psychology, or business, or 2 years' experience working with system-involved youth in a social services setting.
  • Ability to engage verbally and in writing with system-involved youth, government staff, and property owners/landlords.
  • Good working knowledge of the greater San Francisco area.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word.

Estimated Salary: $26-$31.25 per hour (based on 40 hours per week)
