The Salvation Army is currently in search of Shelter Monitors to assist and support shelter residents in King County. This position plays a crucial role in aiding individuals facing immediate challenges and managing crisis and inquiry calls by providing vital support, information, and referrals to those seeking assistance with food, shelter, and other resources.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage crisis and inquiry calls, delivering support, information, and referrals to social services.
  • Ensure a secure environment for residents by providing assistance and enforcing facility regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and mitigate hazards, inappropriate conduct, or necessary repairs.
  • Respond to emergencies, taking independent action within established policy guidelines.
  • Provide crisis intervention and security measures, including notifying authorities when necessary.
  • Oversee client intake and departure processes in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Guide, support, and supervise clients effectively.
  • Assist in the training of new staff and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and represent programs to community agencies with respect.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • At least 6 months of experience in public contact or customer service.
  • Experience in social service shelters or residential settings is preferred.
  • Washington State Driver's License is preferred.
