Position Overview

Role Summary: The Chief of Early Childhood Programs is responsible for overseeing our esteemed initiatives, which encompass Early Childhood Education, School-Age Care, Summer Camp, Parent and Family Education, and Babysitting services. This position requires a strategic and innovative leader who will represent the Jewish Community Center of York in the broader community. The ideal candidate will manage a budget of $4.5 million, supervise relevant departments, and hold a senior role within the professional staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and develop a senior leadership team while establishing a visionary outlook.
  • Support the CEO and Executive Leadership Team of the York Jewish Community Center.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and build exceptional relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards aligned with the vision of the York JCC and adhere to state and local regulations.
  • Assist the team in implementing our educational curriculum for ECE and School Age programs; collaborate with staff to create engaging learning experiences.
  • Work alongside senior leadership to execute strategic plans and objectives that align with the program's mission.
  • Stay informed about current research and best practices in early childhood education, including PA Early Learning Standards and NAEYC guidelines.
  • Guide the ECE team in student assessments and support the review process for families and relevant agencies.
  • Lead the ECE department with enthusiasm to promote collaboration and effective communication.
  • Develop long-term strategies for educational growth and development.
  • Manage and maintain a budget across all areas of responsibility.
  • Commit to a personal and professional development plan to ensure ongoing quality improvement.
  • Represent the JCC and its programs at local, state, and national educational conferences and events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Performance Expectations:

  • Actively promote the mission and values of the ECE and JCC to members and the public.
  • Serve as a role model for staff and members by demonstrating positive attitudes and a strong work ethic.
  • Understand and embody the mission and vision of the York JCC while engaging with members and staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding staff and student records.
  • Engage professionally with families to build trust and confidence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required.
  • A Master's Degree and/or at least 30 credits in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience in early childhood services.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • High energy and enthusiasm for the role.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in technology.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with families, staff, children, and community members.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification is required.
  • Must pass comprehensive background checks and health screenings.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds.
