Position Overview

The Jewish Community Center of York Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Assistant Teacher in our Early Childhood Program. This full-time position involves working collaboratively with the Head Teacher to create engaging weekly lesson plans and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for young learners.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for:

  • Working alongside the Head Teacher to foster a welcoming atmosphere for all children.
  • Meeting the standards set by NAEYC and Keystone STARS.
  • Following the guidelines outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook, which includes:
    • Compliance with DHS regulations.
    • Effective communication with families.
    • Maintenance of the classroom and its resources.
    • Accurate record keeping.
    • Implementation of the curriculum.
    • Adherence to health and safety protocols.
    • Promoting teamwork among staff.
  • Participating in regular meetings with the teaching team and the Early Childhood Program.
  • Performing additional tasks as required.
Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A high school diploma with 15 credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Human Resources, or a related field, along with one year of experience working with children; OR
  • A high school equivalent with 30 credits in the aforementioned fields; OR
  • A high school equivalent with two years of experience in child care.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands associated with child care responsibilities.
