Position Overview

Lead Teacher for 3K/4K Program

The Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of New York are seeking dedicated and certified educators to fill the role of Lead Teacher for our early childhood education program. This position involves a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom atmosphere.
  • Deliver high-quality instruction utilizing the NYC Creative Curriculum, focusing on innovative lesson design and implementation.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive lesson plans tailored to a center-based learning environment.
  • Utilize authentic assessment techniques to monitor student progress and maintain detailed student profiles.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development specific to the PreK for All/3K for All initiative.
  • Actively seek constructive feedback to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies in collaboration with educational and support staff.
  • Provide respectful and confidential services to all students and their families.
  • Encourage and facilitate family involvement in the educational process.
  • Collaborate with Teacher Assistants/Aides on program development and classroom management.
  • Maintain open communication with school leadership and staff regarding classroom dynamics and student needs.
  • Foster positive relationships within the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related discipline.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Certification:

  • New York State teaching certification in one of the following areas:
    • Early Childhood (Birth - Grade 2);
    • Nursery, Kindergarten, and Grades 1-6 (N-6);
    • Prekindergarten - Grade 6 (P-6); or Childhood - Grades 1-6 (3K only);
    • Students with Disabilities (Birth - Grade 2).
